Jolan grew up in the small hamlet of Kleindorf, a small community of woodcutters and sheep ranchers just a short trip off the nearest main road, in the lands of Bamorr-Nudan. He was born on the 32nd of Mid Spring, 971. His particular section of land was ruled by the Magrave Johann Richter, a puppet ruler that is descended from one put in place by the nation of Ander. His parents ran the inn and local tavern, making a decent amount of money; on top of that, his father made a fair amount on the side trapping small animals for the fur trade, allowing them to live comfortably, if not wealthy. His family’s position as the bartenders and well-to-do members made them popular with the locals (being related to so many of the townsfolk didn’t hurt), and his father was one of the locals often called upon by the town’s Magistrate to help settle conflicts and advise him. Being as how his family is mostly concerned with the inn and some minor hunting, they’re not the sort to train for battle and as a result neither was Jolan.
Jolan recently moved on to work for the Mede family as their estate’s hunstman. He was quite skilled at his work, and formed a strong bond with Vartan Mede through their mutual love of the guitar. Jolan was happy to join the young Master Mede on his questing and wandering, and mostly keeps to himself as they go.
